In times of chaos and uncertainty, it’s more important than ever to care for our mental and emotional well-being.
Taking time to connect with ourselves, listen to our bodies, and manage stress can make a world of difference. I have been filled personally with rage at the state of our country not just because of the election results because I honestly expected the results to be what they are. I held on to hope because that’s what my faith has taught me but our society has consistently shown us that they do not care about black women, they do not care about our health or well-being.
And as such we must in turn take care of ourselves. We are in charge of our own healing, NO ONE is going to save us.
“To be a Negro in this country and to be relatively conscious is to be in a rage almost all the time.”
— Baldwin

Now, take a few moments to reflect on your relationship with stress. Use these questions as a guide:
What recent experiences have felt particularly stressful or overwhelming?
How does my body react when I’m stressed? Where do I feel tension or discomfort?
Which vagus nerve practices can help me feel more calm or centered? How did my body respond?
What changes, if any, did I notice in my mood, energy, or clarity after trying these techniques?
What small steps can I take daily to support my body and mind in managing stress more effectively?
Give yourself the time and space to explore these questions without judgment. Reflecting on your experiences and responses to stress can help you create a healthier and more resilient relationship with it.
